We are saddened to learn of the death of our former Principal, Mr Martin Meyler.

Mr Meyler led our school from the mid 1990s until his retirement in 2010. He oversaw a restructuring of the staff in the school with many of our current teachers being appointed in his time. He began the process of modernising St Patrick’s and guided the staff, parents and pupils during a time of change.He was incredibly proud that his staff received the Investors in People Award and it was acknowledged with a visit from President McAleese. Always dapper and welcoming he quietly set his standards and often repeated at assembies the mantra. Your best always. It is difficult to measure his impact except that it was huge and is held as a vision for us even now. A naturally shy man he had a love of music,Tyrone and strangely Tottenham Hotspur. He was a keen sportsman especially cross country and he smilingly would assert that George Best was the second greatest soccer player born in May 1946. He was a generous man with his time and advice to others. He raised thousands of pounds for the Renal Unit in support of his beloved son Paul R.I.P.    

The family of St Patrick’s extends our heartfelt condolences to his wife Angela and daughter Claudine and family. He may be in another room but he will always be part of the fabric of our school.
