Schools Partnerships

St. Patrick's is linked to St. John's Primary School in Masaka, Uganda. The partnership began in 2009 with a visit to our school by Mrs. Beatrice Kibirige, principal of St. John's.

She returned to our school in May 2012. This visit helped to further develop the relationship between our two schools.

The partnership aims at promoting shared learning with a school in another part of the world and is partly funded by the British Council.

This year, we hare focusing our fundraising efforts on helping the staff and pupils of St. Johns to grow their own food, to provide daily meals for all children in the school. As always, the support of our parents, pupils and staff are most greatly appreciated.

Past Work

In March 2011 Mrs Teer and Miss McCusker visited Masaka to begin the formal process of linking the schools. In March 2012 Mrs McCullough visited Uganda and shared the work the children in St. Patrick's have completed around our joint topic of 'Water' this year.

In 2010 St. Patrick's raised money to pay for a water tank in St. John's. The new water tank means that the children no longer have to make a 3 mile round trip down and up hill to collect water for eating, drinking and washing during the school day.

Our friends in Uganda said:

"Thank you for the love you showed us when you sent the money for the water tank."

In 2012 we raised money to help re-build the old classrooms in St. John's which were in a very bad state of repair (See the picture). The past pupils of St. John's contributed extra money to finish the project off.

After raising £2,600 at our One World Day event in October 2014 St. John's have been busy clearing the ground, planting the maize and tending the crop. See the NEWS page for photos of the project (May 2015).
